Activities and AttractionsGeneral ActivitiesThe Whitsundays are a group of more than seventy, mostly uninhabited subtropical islands off the north east coast of Australia. They are located midway along the length of the Great Barrier Reef, about halfway between Brisbane and Cairns. This unique group of national park islands are all within a few miles of each other. The islands contain hundreds of secluded bays and small sandy beaches, with abundant marine life in the fringing coral reefs and protected waters of the surrounding Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. On one of the days at the Resort, a helicopter can pick up guests (an optional extra) for a morning of adventure, visiting one of the world’s most beautiful natural phenomena- the outer Great Barrier Reef. The helicopter flies to a fully equipped pontoon on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, where guests can snorkel the largest and most pristine coral reef in the world and also fly over heart reef. It is a 45 minute flight each way, including a 45 minute snorkel and an optional scuba dive is also available for certified divers. Alternatively, (as an optional extra) a helicopter can pick up guests and fly them to Whitehaven Beach, for a romantic gourmet picnic lunch with champagne on the most beautiful beach in the Whitsundays. Whitehaven Beach is approximately a 15 minute flight from Paradise Bay and is renowned for its brilliantly white silicon sand and crystal clear blue water. Or take the ‘Best Of Both Worlds’ helicopter trip to the Outer reef, snorkel in the morning and then fly to Whitehaven Beach for a romantic champagne lunch on the beach.
