In the heart of wine country

Hunter Valley Wine Country offers a great range of attractions and activities. The region is most famous for its vineyards and wineries – this is Australia’s oldest winemaking area, dating back to the 1820s, and there are now over 80 wineries and cellar doors to choose from. Wine and food naturally complement each other, and this area is well known for its excellent restaurants and fine produce, particularly cheeses, olives and stone fruits.

The lodge has its own heated pool, sauna, gym and walking track, as well as a short putting golf course. Other popular activities include hot air ballooning, cycling, horse carriage tours, horseriding and golf – there are international-standard facilities within two kilometres of the lodge. Also on offer are visits to the historic villages of Wollombi, Morpeth and Maitland, events such as ‘Jazz in the Vines’ and ‘Opera in the Vineyards’, shopping for antiques and crafts, and the Hunter Valley Gardens Village, with its shops, restaurants, pub, wine cellars and golf driving range.
