The Museum hotel incorporates two buildings, the Harbour Wing and Residential Building. The Harbour Wing was originally on the site that Te Papa Museum now resides.

In 1993 the building was relocated using an intricate system or railway tracks across the road to its current location. The original Harbour Wing comprises of four floors, 70 rooms and the hotels Hippopotamus Restaurant and Bar.

In early 2006 the Residential wing of the hotel was completed, including an additional 95 apartment style rooms. The eight story contemporary building comprising of Studios, One and Two Bedroom Suites.

Two Bedroom Suite

Located in the Residential Wing, Two separate bedrooms each with a queen sized bed, lounge/dining area with full kitchen with washer/dryer and spacious bathroom. Max. 4 guests.

One Bedroom Suite

Located in the Residential Wing with Separate bedroom containing a king sized bed, separate lounge/dining area with well equipped kitchenette, washer/dryer, spacious bathroom with ultimate bathtub for two and separate rain-shower.

Harbour Room

All in one room with King Sized bed, shower and bath in the ensuite, individual balcony with guaranteed harbour view.

Premier Studio

All in one studio room in the Residential Wing, with king sized bed, well equipped kitchenette, washer/dryer, ultimate bathtub for two and separate rain shower.

Twin Studio

All in one studio room in the Residential Wing, with two queen beds, well equipped kitchenette, washer/dryer, ultimate bathtub for two and separate rain shower. Max 4 guests.
