Braemar Lodge is situated on an elevated plateau overlooking the Hanmer Springs basin – 9 kilometres (a 10-minute drive) from Hanmer Springs village. The Lodge is 187 kilometres (90 minutes) north of Christchurch International Airport, which is served by Air New Zealand, Qantas and many other international airlines.
Transfers from/to the airport are available at an additional cost. Options include a helicopter to Hanmer, chauffeured limousine, a 4–6 seater luxury charter vehicle, or the daily coach service.
Hanmer Springs is located on the eastern side of New Zealand’s South Island, at 42.32° South and 172.50° East. The elevation is approximately 380 metres above sea level – average summer temperatures range from a refreshing 20 - 35°C, while winter temperatures vary from -10 - 15°C: snow often falls in the area.
Directions
From Christchurch
Take State Highway 1 north and turn left on to State Highway 7 at Waipara. Follow the signs to Hanmer Springs, but before reaching the village drive over the bridge and take the first right into Medway Road. Continue for another 3 kilometres and the Lodge is at the end of the road.
From Hanmer Springs
Follow State Highway 7 south for 6 kilometres, turn left into Medway Road and drive for another 3 kilometres. The Lodge is located at the end of this road.
