At the hotel, guests can avail themselves of excellent facilities such as the swimming pool and gym, and the soon-to-open Spa and the Piazza Shopping Arcade. The latter will include a hair and beauty salon, exclusive jewellery shops, a perfumerie, a bookshop and the Galle Face Hotel Museum, featuring colonial antiques relating to the hotel’s long history.

The city of Colombo is famous for its seaport, Indian Ocean frontage and array of heritage buildings and sites. There are beautiful Buddhist and Hindu temples here, several excellent art galleries, cultural shows and fascinating museums. Colombo also offers many fine restaurants and wonderful shopping. Browse the shops and markets for traditional arts and crafts, such as woven goods, pottery and wooden masks, and gemstones – including famed Sri Lankan sapphires.

There is an excellent golf course just four kilometres from the hotel, and guests can book a wide range of guided tours to Sri Lanka’s highlights – such as the World Heritage former Dutch town of Galle, 115 kilometres to the south.
